Position: Merchandise Clerk

Description: To provide administrative support to the merchandise department through effective order management, sample management and proclarity reporting. 

Roles and Responsibilities: Financial Ratio - Merchandise 
1. Collect, collate and submit sales information to department for presentation at weekly meeting 2. Be familiar with the merchandise processes and requirements for balanced stock and product assortment, and how these impact on the achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs) 3. Assist by inputting required information into relevant systems; ensure accuracy when capturing orders and other merchandise data onto the system 4. Use appropriate systems to generate accurate and legible order documentation and merchandise reports 
Product Portfolio and Assortment 
1. Inform parties of relevant information regarding assortment or balanced stock for incorporation into all relevant processes 2. Liaise on a regular basis to supply relevant gathered/researched information on seasonal trends/product performance to interpret requirements for seasonal plans and balanced stock 3. Label merchandise samples to facilitate easy access and ensure that the samples are sorted out according to the departmental standards 4. Perform a range of techniques (steaming, hanging, arranging) when preparing samples and boards for presentation to relevant stakeholders 
Customer Demand Management 
1. Ensure that orders are accurately processed to relevant system in accordance with set requirements, verified and then submitted to relevant parties for authorisation 2. Liaise with relevant suppliers and, if necessary, initiate appropriate actions if an order has not been received 3. Collect and examine information relating to stock to ensure that the quantity and quality of stock received/despatched is consistent with the requirements 
Performance Monitoring 
1. Understand and apply all relevant merchandise processes and procedures 2. Prioritise own activities to ensure that work agreed to is completed within specified timeframes 3. Provide feedback to relevant parties on the progress and/or completion of tasks, as well as the status of orders captured 4. Collate and distribute competitor analysis reports to the team to make sure that all team members are informed 5. Relay information required from other parties and follow up where necessary to ensure completion of tasks and adherance to deadlines 
Process Improvement and Efficiency 
1. Identify and solve problems to ensure that documents are typed and information is double checked 2. Develop and maintain logical filing systems to ensure that information is updated regularly 3. Identify the purpose of a report and establish the appropriate source to be utilised for gathering information. Use appropriate systems to extract information from a range of reports, compile reports in appropriate format and check accuracy of data input, liaising with relevant sources to verify data where required 4. Distribute reports and initiate follow-up actions to verify that relevant parties have received, and are satisfied with, the report 5. Provide administrative support to the merchandise team to ensure that targets are met

Education Level: Grade 12 
Experience Level: Literacy & numeracy with Grade 12 as a minimum. Integrates basic PC skills & is able to be trained with on-job experience and exposure. Operates within regulated systems and procedures to standardised methodologies. Provides Functional clerical, administrative orfunctional trainee support under guidance & supervision. Able to perform a wide variety of clerical/Functional procedures which are clearly documented. Acts confidently & independently in supporting the Functional area. Possesses broad knowledge in the Functional area and training/on-job experience ensures effective contribution within an environment with straightforward procedures & policies. Systems must be understood before decisions made in well-established situations. Operate unguided in supporting the Functional subfunction.The emphasis is on timeous and accurate service delivery.
