BCom (Commercial Law) - Internship

Are you a B.Com (Law) graduate with commercial experience? Are you looking for an opportunity to break through into the corporate environment? Well here's your chance to join a dynamic team responsible for administrating industry information and facilitating compliance to the Sugar Act, the Sugar Industry Agreement and the SASA Constitution.

SASA's Industry Affairs Division currently has a twelve (12) month contract, an excellent work experience opportunity for those with a keen interest in analysing data and applying legal principles to it. This position is based in Mount Edgecombe and in reporting to the Legal Advisor and through to the Industry Affairs Executive, the successful incumbent would gain experience and exposure in the following:

  • Industry administration databases and systems
  • Analyses of industry statistics
  • Industry processes
  • Conducting and reporting on research
  • Ensuring statutory compliance for SASA subsidiaries 
  • Conducting the initial review of SASA contracts 
  • Liaising with external and internal stakeholders of the sugar industry
  • Drafting of policies, procedures and frameworks
  • Applying compliance procedures. 

The ideal applicant will have:


  • B.Com (Law) degree
  • Experience in Commercial and legal aspects of business

Important skills and qualities to succeed in this role are:

  • Sound analytical skills
  • Ability to interpret statistics
  • Strong Microsoft excel and word skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Be able to plan and prioritise tasks
  • Confident to engage with internal and external customers
  • A team player that can self-motivate and work independently
  • Dedicated and committed

Term of the programme:

  • Participants will be offered a 12 month contract.
